Ravi Shastri – Indian Cricket Team Coach 2024

Ravi Shastri

Ravi Shastri currently is an Indian cricket trainer, former player, commentator, coach and now current head coach of the India men’s national cricket team. As a batsman, he represented India at both Tests and ODIs during the early years of his career. After retirement, he coached the Bengal University team for two years. As a commentator, he has been doing commentary for many news channels in India as well as for English-speaking channels in the UK and Australia. A fan of Indian batting legend Subba Paul and a fan of cricket in general, he enjoys naming the names of players that he admires the most.

A right-handed batsman, Shastri likes to bat right-handed in order to get a better grip on the bat and improve his field position. At the same time, he believes it helps him hit the ball harder. As a result, he has the ability to vary his position from off towards mid off and even towards the off wicket. It all depends on how comfortable he is with his stance and the way he feels on the surface.

Ravi Shastri - Has the Seasonended?

As a batsman, Ravi Shastri has a natural ability to swing the bat around from left to right. However, he needs a lot of practice in this aspect of batting because it is not at all natural for a batsman to do so. He needs to be taught how to do this properly by a coach and then he can develop good bat swinging skills. Jayarshritha also needs to improve on his running, catching and bowling skills if he wants to continue to be a valuable member of the India team.

The medium pace bowler is Ravi Shastri. Ravi has a very high match average and is only in the fringe of India’s selection so far. This is primarily because he hasn’t done enough consistent running to earn a regular place in the India team and that has prevented him from earning the required runs. However, Ravi has the talent to hit the ball hard. He also bowls average ball without much success that has made him ineligible for selection currently.

Ravi Shastri - Has the Seasonended?

At the other end of the spectrum is veteran batsman Ashok Uladiyak who has played a solitary international match. He has only scored two runs so far and that has not done much to put his name in the selectors’ eyes. He is yet to establish himself as a part-time player in the IPL, which means he will have to wait a while before he can start challenging for a place in the Indian squad. There are high hopes that Uladiyak will turn things around soon.

It would be a great idea for Shastri to learn to bat on the off stump. In fact, that has been the mantra of his career so far and it is something that he intends to rectify this season. Otherwise, he may end up being a one-dimensional player who fails to do anything significant enough to help his team win matches. His efforts will be limited to routine batting duties that will hardly be effective at all. That is something that no captain can afford for his team.
