Hardik Pandya is an Indian professional cricketer who plays for Baroda in inter-provincial cricket and Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He is a batsman who bowls left-arm and medium pace. His younger brother Krunal is also an experienced cricketer from the same team. He debuted in the IPL last season as a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Krunal is yet to score a century in his three appearances. Hardik Pandya has made a total of 5 centuries in his two games.
As expected of a batsman of his ability, Hardik Pandya runs hard to get a century. He started off with a bang as he hit fifty-six runs in his first two overs. He added eleven runs in his fourth over and added another six in his last over. On the day, he became only the second ever player to hit the century mark in a single over when he hit his century against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Kolkata. Hardik Pandya hails from the state of Maharasthra in India and had earlier played football in his younger days. After retirement he joined a flourishing company called Kingfisher where his bowling and batting skills were appreciated. Hardik then signed for IPL team Gujarat Lions in 2021 and went on to score the first ever century for the franchise. Gujarat Lions won the IPL first trophy and Hardik Pandya along with colleague Suraj bhai Ajit played a key role in the team’s success.
The Hardik Pandya factor is clearly evident in his name as the IPL franchise has no other player with the same name in its eleven starting XI. So much so that he is the only name on the team sheet. This is not all that unusual in a world where IPL franchises have a lot of popularity. So much so that there was a talk that the franchise will soon be taken over by another major league cricketing franchise.
